The van Diemen Project is a proudly Tasmanian business and impact advisory organisation. We’ve been working alongside Tasmanian businesses, organisations and communities since 2016. In that time our award-winning services have supported more than 6,000 people.

Where we work:
Tasmania is our home and our focus. We have offices in Launceston and Hobart and work right across the state, including the North West Coast, the East Coast, the Midlands, the Tamar Valley, the Huon Valley and the West Coast. We also work with regional communities across Australia, particularly in places where people are closely connected and local businesses and organisations carry a lot of weight. Regional towns face challenges a lot like Tasmania’s, and our methods travel. We meet you in person, at your workplace, by phone or online.

Digital Solutions Tasmania: practical digital support for small business
Running a small business is busy enough without trying to work out the digital side on your own. Through the Digital Solutions program, The van Diemen Project helps Tasmanian small businesses get on top of the digital tools that save time, reach more customers and keep the business safe.
You get up to five hours of one-on-one advice from an experienced business adviser for a small fee. There are also free workshops, webinars and self-paced tutorials.
Topics include: social media, digital marketing, selling online, business software, AI and emerging technologies, and cybersecurity and data privacy.

Business Reviews
For established businesses that feel stuck, stretched or ready for the next stage.
As a business grows, the things that once worked can start getting in the way. Our business review is a deep five to six month process looking at how your business really runs: systems, structure, roles, finances, customers and culture. We listen to your people, find what’s holding you back and work with you to rewire it. You’re left with a business that’s easier to run, a team that knows where it fits and a clear plan for sustainable growth.
Strategic Planning

Where Our Name Comes From?
Our name comes directly from Anthony van Diemen. As Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies, he backed Abel Tasman’s 1642 voyage, which led to the island being named Van Diemen’s Land until it became Tasmania in 1856.
Earlier in his life, van Diemen had failed as a merchant before finding his way and rising to lead. For us, his story is a reminder that setbacks aren’t the end, and that backing others to explore what’s possible can open doors for generations. That’s the spirit of our work: making opportunities matter.

Adam has more than 15 years of experience across business, community, education and social enterprise. He brings energy, practical know-how and a deep belief that enterprise can change lives and communities.
Anna Cui - Project Manager
Highly curious and observant, Anna is the superglue to projects and initiatives at The van Diemen Project, bringing an energetic approach to every opportunity. A life-long learner, Anna is currently studying her MBA, applying her experience across hospitality, retail and academic research – including leadership – to support our clients and community.
