Let’s Talk More…

We know that every individual, business and organisation is unique, and we love coming alongside to provide our advice, knowledge, skills and experience to help you make your opportunity matter and get to where you want to be. Sometimes it is just easier to let us know where you are at, and we can talk about how we can help from there – so don’t hesitate to get in touch and let’s talk more!

How we are different

At The van Diemen Project, we don’t just provide business advice—we offer a unique combination of impact and business advisory services that drive results for individuals, businesses, and communities across Tasmania. Our values set us apart, and we’re committed to working with you to create meaningful change.

Inquisitive MindsWe are always curious and seeking more knowledge and opportunities.

Our impact advisory and business advice services are fuelled by curiosity. We’re always seeking new opportunities, asking the right questions, and finding creative solutions to help small businesses and community organisations overcome challenges.

Build as a VillageWe believe we do better work when we seek the ideas, opinions and support of others.

We believe collaboration is key. Our wide network of subject matter experts and mentors ensures that we deliver the best outcomes for small businesses and community organisations across Tasmania. We create a safe space for open dialogue, celebrating different skills and perspectives to foster innovation and growth.

The Heart of a PersonWe always put people first, and we remember that at the centre of each idea or business is a person.

As we recognise that we are people working with people, at the centre of our decisions is to help business leaders, decision makers and owners to thrive in life, not just in business. The van Diemen Project takes the time to build connections with people, focusing on what matters to each individual we meet with as well as the business, with our outcome to look at how we can build the organisation as well as the person in everything we do.

Teach People to FishWe put the building blocks in place for ongoing momentum.

In all that we do at The van Diemen Project, our impact and business advisory support are meant to help create a stronger foundation for what comes next with confidence. This means that we are focused on empowering and encouraging businesses, rather than creating a dependency on our support, with a focus on growing momentum with knowledge alongside our experience. Our training, advice and workshops enable all kinds of growth, beyond just looking at addressing the immediate problem.

UncompromisedWe are independent and objective.

We pride ourselves on providing independent, objective, and actionable business advice. Our goal is to help small businesses, community organisations and social enterprises in Tasmania and regional Australia succeed with honest, realistic support and business advice that drives meaningful change.

Where Our Name Comes From?

Even though we are proudly Tasmanian based, our business name honours the tenacity, creativity, curiosity, diplomacy, fearlessness, compassion, care and entrepreneurial spirit of Anthony van Diemen. As a young man he started his own business, and after some challenges, persevered to rise through the ranks to become the Governor-General of Batavia (modern day Jakarta) from 1636 to 1645 – and along the way showed a character we still follow today.
